Let’s face it, not everyone loves to work out. Although we realize that plenty of exercise is beneficial for so many reasons, we tend to procrastinate. Our new workout plan usually gets put off till ‘next Monday’ along with the new diet and healthier overall lifestyle.
There are many ways to exercise, and many don’t even involve a regular visit to the gym ‘ which is the major reason some people abhor exercise. Women, for instance, don’t usually enjoy working out next to men yet most gyms target male membership and employ male personal trainers.
Exercising is classified in two groups ‘ isometrics which tones muscles, and cardio which strengthens hearts. Circuit training is a structured combination of both, with a plan usually developed by a personal trainer who takes your exact goals and needs into consideration. If you really hate to jog, he’ll help you find a way to get the same results with different methods.
In the 80s, everything was cardio. Every celebrity came out with an aerobics work out tape that had you pumping and sweating for an hour as you tried to keep you heart rate at 150 beats per minute. Once people realized this did little for the body itself other than cause undo wear and tear on the knees and ankles, aerobics fell by wayside.
Most doctors agree that some cardio about 3 or 4 times a week is enough. Walk your dog, borrow a dog, or walk by yourself. Many people do speed walking instead of jogging. Or take a few kids to the playground there’s nothing better than chasing a few toddlers around for an hour. Even a long walk after dinner each night can do wonders because it tones your legs and strengthens your heart.
A workout plan needed be formal, it just needs to be effective.
